"Death List" found at Elwood High School

My son and 40 some other kids were on a hit list found on a student yesterday. I don't see it anywhere in the local paper. I was told that they are only talking to the parents of the involved kids. But, don't you think every parent should know? The kid with the list has been suspended, but I was not told for how long and if he will be allowed back. They said they were taking it seriously, but they don't think it's a serious threat, that the kid said he was just bored and frustrated....isn't that how it starts?? Just venting, but I would think more info would be passed out.

I think that every parent

I think that every parent has the right to know. However, working in a law firm, I know that it isnt good to "JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS". The school board is probably trying to get to the bottom of the incident and gathering FACTS before alerting all the parents!

I cant tell you enough how much I appreciate YOU telling us about this incident. This is all very terrifying and I pray to GOD that nothing happens! I hope they kick up security and dont blow this off.

Ugh!

I'm pretty upset about this

I'm pretty upset about this too. My oldest son is in the high school. He said the kid did this as a joke. Which made me even more mad. I told him that's usually the way all these school shootings and such start. You HAVE to take this serious!!

Also, I think that EVERY entrance to the schools should have metal detectors. Putting a camera at the front door may just let you know who's knocking, but it won't stop what people are carrying in to the building or stopping a stranger from coming into a different entrance.

What I can't help wonder is WHY the school didn't inform ALL parents, not just the ones on the list?

I hope the school board and the police department take this issue very seriously and let this be an example of how IT COULD HAPPEN IN OUR LITTLE TOWN!!!

a kids view

This is writtne from a middle school child who wants to remain anonomous:
It's all the video games and movies, because they thing it is real. They think they can get away with it. In a video game you can kill some one and just walk away, you can steel money, cars, weapons, clothing, just about any thing. You CAN NOT spank your kids any more, so they think they can do what ever they want. They say "If you hit me I will call child services" They think Oh, I will just got to time out a few min. While they are sitting there they are thinking of the next thing they can get into.
Kids have mastered guilt.
