The Elwood Glass Festival

The Elwood Glass Festival is set for August 15, 16 and 17, 2008 at Callaway Park. This years festival features new carnival rides by Jessop Amusements. The carnival will open on Wednesday, August 13 at 6 p.m. with bracelet nights on Wednesday and Thursday. Other new events for the festival include a bungee
trampoline and Boogie Heads (a fun time making your own dance cd). On the St.Vincent Mercy Hospital Main Stage this year, entertainment includes a karaoke contest, talent show, hot dog eating contest, clowns, worship service, and music provided by Vinyl Groove, Janet 51, South of Sunset and Quincy’s Brass.

Other events scheduled throughout the festival include a quilt show at Edgewood Elementary School, bus tours, Tiny Tot Trot, RC Flyers Demonstration,Bingo, parade, Cutest Baby Contest, car show, pancake breakfast, salad luncheon, dinners in the shelter house, as well as the art and craft vendors and lots of festival food. Free parking is available at the high school, Elwood City Pool, and Elwood Little League Fields. There is no admission charge.

In conjunction with the Elwood Glass Festival is the Miss Elwood Glass Scholarship Pageant which is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, August 9 at the Richard Merritt Auditorium in the middle school. Applications for booth space are still available at the Elwood Chamber of Commerce. Booth space is $80 for a 10’x12’ spot. Electricity is available. Applications also are available for the talent show, karaoke contest, quilt show, tiny tot trot and cutest baby contest.
