There is one in frankton. Serves pizza and also has several other things on the menu, including breakfast. don`t know about elwood, but seems to be a hit in frankton. They sometimes have live entertainment.

ELWOOD -The wheels are in motion to convert some former retail locations into new business development.

At 2000 E. Main St., the site of the old Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, Fat Tommy’s will be a full-service restaurant.

Just over three months ago, Fat Tommy’s owner, Tom Cowart, said he opened his first restaurant in Frankton and is looking to have his newest location ready in a little over a month.

Cowart explained that he is very enthused about the opening of his second location in the Elwood community.

“I think there is great potential in the area,” Cowart said. “For the last three years, I have been looking for the right location in the area. I believe there is a demand for a good full-service restaurant.”

What is the big plan for the building? I noticed that the roof has fallen in, are they going to tear it down and rebuild or just fix up the old one?

I spoke with Tom at the old KFC building. The repairs are moving right along and there has been a lot of work done. I told him that there were some questions on this site about when he’s opening. He told that he wouldn’t rush to open. It is important to him that everything be ready for a full service restaurant. He had no plans to open unless he had everything ready and would offer no official date. He spoke very highly of Elwood, its future and of all the support he has received. He also asked me to invite everyone to the Frankton Tommy’s for a full menu with daily specials, pizza and the Friday Elvis nights...table reservation and info 754-1000 or stop in.

Thanks for the update. It's nice to know that he's fixing it all up properly and not just opening it with problems. I can't believe that the former owner let it fall into such disrepair that the roof collapsed. That was rediculous!

as for the other so called pizza shops in town, i'm ready for a mom and pop place with a good pie! here's hoping...

my folks tried the Frankton restaurant they can't wait for
it to open here. We need more than just fast food.

My wish has finally come true! Judging from the menu from Fat Tommy's, it looks like they're going to have similar items to what the old Main Diner had! I don't think they can open the place soon enough! :o)

They are available at the Frankton Fat Tommy's, or they were anyways.

I was told by some friends that Fat Tommy's food doesn't exactly taste good. They said the experience was great and the place looked great but the food wasn't good at all... I believe them. I've heard it from MANY people... Too many to not believe. Oh, well. I hope we're not all disappointed though.

Ya our family went to the one in frankton, this past summer & we knew when we left that we would never be back!!
The food wasnt nothing to brag about or even to drive out to town for.
$5 for a sandwich that was with nothing !!! no thanks!
I think that they do well in frankton cause the pepole save money by not going out of town!!

Well anything has to be better than the nasty, gross McDonalds we have here! That has got be the nastiest McDonalds EVER! Its just a common thing to go and have them SCREW UP your order one way or the other. Wether its NO STRAWS- missing sandwiches or CHEESE on your sandwich when clearly you asked for no cheese. They even went thru all the trouble to put that little sticker with the receipt on it stuck to your sandwich that says it has no cheese but wouldnt go thru the trouble to take the cheese OFF! I stopped going there for fear that my blood pressure will rise to high by their idiotic mistakes and the 20 minute wait in the drive thru lane.

McDonalds fries are good I have recently found out by going to OTHER McDonalds! I have been told by several friends and family members that live out of town that Elwood McDonalds is just plain gross and that they would rather eat ANYWHERE but to go there again. Pretty sad!

Ever wonder why they put that flyer up at the drive-thru that you better check your bag before you leave or they won't issue any more refunds???!!!!! Maybe cause they are constantly SCREWING UP  and got tired of people calling once they got home~ irate!!!!

Only what I`ve heard, but the Elwood place is only a bakery and expanded kitchen for Frankton and will not have dining. This summer they are supposed to expand the dining area and enlarge the buffet area at Frankton.
Around Christmas I heard who I believe to be the owner say they were running out of space and was focusing more on Frankton.

Wow, haven't heard that. Why would they put in all of the stoves and go through the process of fixing up the dining room that they've been working on if that was the case? Weird! When is that place going to open anyways? I'm tired of waiting!

What about the plan to open a steakhouse ???

Word is that Fat Tommy's will be openng tomorrow!

I took my kids there tonight, it was really good. And really crowded!! I'm glad they're open now.

We ate there last night, too. Great food! Just a little chaotic - I'm sure just because they were busy and first day and all - but loved the way the placed looks. Tommy came around and checked on people...very personable. I'm so glad there's another place in town for good food.

We really liked Fat Tommy's! The food was excellent!! Tommy is so personable and tries very hard to take care of his guests needs. It did take a little bit to get our food(about 30-40 minutes), but I'm sure it's beacause they are new. In fact, it was so good that DH and I want to try the pizza for dinner tonight. Anyone know if they deliver and their phone number?

Tommys have an all you can eat buffet at Frankton on Monday nights. If they do this at Elwood it would be awesome.

i work at the one in Frankton and it has changed in a good way. Every one needs to check it out.
