Helpful Ideas for Elwood Citizens
Submitted by spearman8330 on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 9:41am.
Lets inform each other on possible options to assist with a challenging economic situation.
a.) Create a good resume and post your resume on Internet Employment Sites.
b.) Visit or call Job Employment services or Temporary Employment Services "their are alot of them."
c.) Attend Job Fairs.
c.) Going back to school "a career change", one that would allow you to support your families and stay in Elwood "traveling within 60 miles."
d.) The head of the family goes where the work is and the family stays in Elwood. "I work out of state and come home on weekends."
e.) Adjust your budget now for higher property taxes.
f.) If you own and rent your property, are you ready for property tax increases that you would have to pass on to the renter.
g.) If you rent; are you ready for higher monthly payments.
h.) If you rent from a home owner; have them put you on the Deed through a Quitclaim Deed from the County Assessors Office "you can purchase the form from Miller-Huggins". The owner gets a Homestead Exception on the rental property which lowers the property tax you pay. This may also be used as a land contract. "March 1st is the deadline for next year property taxes; if there would be a change of status". Any questions on how this works - Call the County Assessors Office @ 765-641-9401.
