All Expense Paid Trip to Elwood, Indiana !

Some time back, there was a question on the Den about a couple winning a trip to Elwood through a radio contest. Well, slow but sure I found the article in the Elwood Call-Leader microfilm at the Library. Unfortunately, the picture in the article did not copy well.

Elwood Call-Leader

Monday, January 15, 1986

(The following caption was under a picture on the front page)

This banner prepared by Services and Materials Co., Inc., and provided by Robert Berns, vice-president of the company, was placed in downtown Elwood Tuesday and asks the Question, “Are You Proud of Elwood? Albuquerque, New Mexico is!” This banner makes reference to publicity received by the local community when an Albuquerque, N.M., couple won a free trip to Elwood to visit Services and Materials to see where orange traffic barrels are made. The Chamber of Commerce has asked that interested local residents use the banner as a stimulus and write a short note to the Chamber or the mayor’s office stating why you live in Elwood and what you like about the community.

(The banner was hung across the intersection of Main and Anderson Sts.)
