Your Old Home Town
Home Sweet Home! No matter where it is and no matter how much you enjoyed the trip, there is nothing like returning to your own Sweet Home and Home Town.
The curbing is up from Main Street to north of the Post Office. It may be up to North B Street .... I couldn't get close enough to tell for sure, but I think it will be at least to the Ford Dealership. The pavement should be put in sometime during the first of December. This will make it better for patrons at the Post Office, the Solid Ground Coffee Shop and members of the Methodist Church.
Danny Nance has Christmas decorations up at the park and they will be turned on November 30th. It will be even better this year. Our Panther Den purchased two angels and Dan has hung them so they will appear to be flying. Many others have donated to the decorating this year. If you are able to at all, you really need to take a holiday drive through Callaway Park here in Your Old Home Town.
I have not been back long enough to note everything that has happened while I have been gone. I think that a lot of things took a back seat during the campaigning and election time. Thank goodness I was gone for that. I almost always am disappointed in most of the grass roots people I vote for. Say anything for your vote .... forget it all when elected.
There is still a lot of construction going on across from the Middle School. That is certainly good for the Old Town. Means people are coming here to live. I have missed the last few Main Street meetings so have not been able to do my usual inquiries. I will keep all of you informed when I nose around and find out the latest.
I am leaving again on November 22nd for New York and will return on Dec. 3rd. Consequently, I needed to get this report done early so it can be seen in December's Megaphone.
I noted that there have been several messages remembering our past Thanksgiving. There also was a message that maybe we have run out of things to talk about. I urge every person reading this to send a message about your Thanksgiving this year. It can be very brief or very long, but tell your Panther Den Family about your Thanksgiving. Give us menus that were used. Types of stuffing you had. What time you had dinner. Lots of people or just you. Who does the actual cooking. What desserts you had. Let those who may be alone share in reading about the good times had by large groups and thus share is that activity. I know there is a wealth of things that can and Will be reported from one Panther Den Family member to the rest of us.
Let us also remember what we are celebrating. Let us count our Blessings. Let us give thanks to those who are willing to die for all of us so that we may have this holiday. Let us remember to give thanks for being alive and able to say Thank You. Let us give thanks for this On-line Family that can reach out to touch each other in so many ways. Let us pray to God to keep us in the palm of His hand.
