And He Got E in Chemistry
from the 1919 Crescent
They laid him in a pine box
Beneath the apple tree,
And on his cheery tombstone
This epitaph you'll see.
"Willie was a drinkin'
But he will drink no more,
For what he thought was H-2-O

*H2SO4 is sulfuric acid.

The pride his exploits instilled in his hometown is still evident today -- businesses and streets bear his name and the Neil Armstrong Space Museum, which opened July 1972, is a lasting tribute to Armstrong. In the Astro-Theater, visitors can enjoy a simulated trip to the moon and the infinity cube, an 18 foot square lined with mirrors which gives you the impression of being projected into space.
Armstrong earned his pilot’s license before receiving his driver’s license.
In 1949, he was called to active duty by the U. S. Navy and flew combat missions during the Korean war.
In
July 1969, Neil and his Apollo 11 crew members, Michael Collins and “Buzz”
Aldrin, were honored with a ticker tape parade in
