Good Morning

by Dewey W. Smith

Good Morning,

Brrrrr 7
° at 8:00 this morning in beautiful white Indiana. We will probably have more white stuff before the week is over, maybe 3 or 4 inches more. I will have to go out in the garage and see if I can find my sled. But what would I do with it??? I probably can't even lift it any more.

I still remember the sledding parties we used to have. I remember Virginia scratching up her knee and me getting blamed for it. She just dumped her sled. She was my date that night and I heard about this for a long time. Of course then the girls wore dresses or skirts, no jeans then. Yes, we would go out to the hill and build a bonfire and have dates to slide down the hill.

Sometimes we would go out to Gano's Camp and go ice skating on Shafer Lake. We always had a bonfire there also. Some times some one might even bring some weeenies. We never heard anyone say "I'm bored."

It was fun to dig a tunnel through a snow drift. I remember the men digging through the snow drifts so the school buses could get through. I wonder why us kids never helped do this. We always disappeared. Your snow blower then was a scoop shovel.

I want everyone to know that at my age and handicapped as I am, the Panther Den has been a life saver for me. I feel that I have made many, many friends and have not even met some of them. Of course I recognize names from living here and having four children graduate here. I attended a lot of basketball, football, baseball and track meets throughout the years. I had better wipe the tears and give everyone some hugs and kisses.
