Hey, fellow Dennites, do you have your calendar marked yet? If not, there's still time. June 23 is fast approaching and all the fun of Denstock II.
Those who attended Denstock I last year will agree with me that a great time was had by all who attended. I remember arriving and being greeted by a gentleman wearing of all things a studded dog collar. Quickly, I figured out that this had to be none other than our beloved Doggie, aka Bob Henderson, who was manning the door. This was just the beginning of the fun things that were happening at Denstock I. There was a wonderful, yet silly, program hosted by our EmCee, Marv (Doc) Crim. He roasted several members and handed out crazy awards such as Doggie's collar and Winnie (Shaw) Hillan’s Twirly Girl award. There was music playing on Doc’s Bose; snacks were served; one group was playing cards; Joe Hurst was selling Willkie memorabilia for the Elwood Historical Society; and this is just the tip of the iceberg of events that went on. A good time was had by all as cries of "Hi! I hoped you'd be here!" or "Gosh, you haven't changed a bit," resounded across the Callaway Park shelter house.
Denstock II is shaping up to be even bigger and better! It is going to be from 10 to 5 at the Callaway Park Shelter House on Saturday, June 23. This year the committee is planning to serve a lunch of Gardner’s Sloppy Joes and Nick's Coney Dogs accompanied by many side dishes and drinks. Vicki (Mama Duck) has a poll in the Den files for anyone who wants to donate to this meal. We still need several items.
Doc, I'm sure, is planning another exciting, amazing roast of the members as part of his Welcoming speech. We know he will be his irrepressible self! Larry Courtney is bringing shirts and hats to sell celebrating Denstock II. (Mama Duck) is planning her raffle and silent auction. Have you found any suitable Panther items at your house to donate to this worthy cause? Remember profits from the auction go to the Alumni Scholarship Fund. And, of course, there will be renewing of old friendships not to mention finally meeting online friends in person.
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!
