Angel Experience

by Bob "Doggie" Henderson

My experience came in 1998 after my bypass surgery.

I was sent home 5 days after the surgery and in 3 days I noticed seepage through the bandages. I called the surgeon's office and they said that was normal and to keep an eye on it.  On Sunday, I was going through 4x4 bandages like a baby with diarrhea. Monday I called my heart doctor and he said to come in right away. We got there about 4:30 p.m. and he came into the room and the first words he said, "You look like crap,” and I told him that was the way I felt.

He determined that I had infection and I was going to have to go back into the hospital. I asked what time in the morning did he want me there. He said not in the morning, there would be a bed waiting for me at Lutheran hospital as soon as Myrna could get me there. I spent 42 days in the hospital and had 4 surgeries over that span.

Now when did I have an encounter with an angel? I think it was after the 3rd one they had me pretty heavily sedated as they had my chest wide open so they tell me. I woke up it must have been about 3 a.m. when the brightest light I had ever seen lit up my room and a figure was standing in the doorway saying "Don’t be afraid, Bob. Everything is going to be okay." The room darkened and I went back to sleep. That was my real life encounter with an angel.
