The Small Brindle Cow

There was a breeze on the meadow and a breeze on my brow,
The first time I saw her, the small brindle cow.
So different she looked.

Just minding her manners, her nose in the clover,
Other cows stood beside her, seldom cared to look over.
So different she seemed.

Her odd little coat with colors like marble,
Made me ask the next question, what mix caused that garble?
How strange she did look.

Does it go all the way through?
Does chocolate cream rise?
Or is it quite true beneath color and size,
They're all just the same?

Reminds me of people so different and such,
With colors and types we think do not touch.
So different they seem.

But under the wrapper, beneath color and size,
When hearts rule brave heads, a new thought to the wise,
We're mostly the same.

More alike than we're different although not quite like me,
Like the small brindle cow, even though we can't see,
Underneath, we're the same.

I enjoy thinking different, enjoy thinking free,
I enjoy surprising those who dare snicker at me.
I have my own quality,
I'm unique, I am me.
