Hi,
I was cleaning out some files in a cabinet in the IR and came across a booklet called... Elwood High School Hand Book... 1944... and inside was this floor plan. I thought it interesting!

For those of you who read only the monthly Panther Den Megaphone issue and do not belong to the Panther Den online at Yahoo! Groups are missing many great conversations with other members of the list. This article is a spin-off from some of the April messages.
The question arose as to whether wrestling was real or fake. Memories kicked in and we were off and running on various wrestlers names and stories. And as perfect timing might have it… while doing research at the library, I came across the following:
Championship wrestling returned to Elwood Wednesday night with a fairly small crowd in attendance. However, the fans were treated to some fine entertainment over the long evening.
Soldier LeBeouf and Sgt. Jacques Goulet will team with Ox Baker to go against Pepper Gomez, Paul Christy and Yukon Moose Cholak in a big six-man tag team match feature after a big semi-final bout between Chuck “Monster” O’Connor and Chief Bold Eagle.

An opening round bout will feature Handsome Johnny Starr against Steve Regal.

An extra special event for the fans will match two midgets – Cowboy Lang (91 pounds) and Haiti Kit (97 pounds). This one should really please the boys and girls who will be in attendance. The doors to the Junior High School Gym will open at 7 p.m. and the first match starts at 8 p.m. Tickets for the big show are now on sale at various locations around the city of Elwood and are priced at $4 for adults and children in the ringside area; $3 for adult general admission and $2 for students 11 and under in the general admission area. The tickets may be purchased at the following locations – Elwood Chamber of Commerce, Coast to Coast in the Grant Plaza, Leeson’s Men’s Shop, Elwood Call-leader, Young’s Restaurant on Highway 37, Security Bank, Mengelt’s Hideway, Grinnell’s Toy Store on highway 28; Falvey’s Men’s Shop, Inland Marine, First National Bank, Moose Lodge and Matney’s Newsstand in Alexandria.

Haiti Kid and Cowboy Lang provided entertainment for area wrestling fans at the Junior High School Gym Wednesday night. The two were just one of a number of matches featuring professional wrestlers that were sponsored by the Greater Elwood Progress Association. Many fans were on the edges of their seats, cheering for their favorites.
