Mr. Phil Brown taught social studies at Elwood Community High school and retired from the school in 1994. Mr. Brown went out of his way for each and every student. He made each student feel like they were a special person because he honestly believed that about each person. Mr. Brown was not an athlete growing up, but he backed the Panther Football team during my four years of high school. While deciding to become and educator, Mr. Brown and Mr. Bomholt were the main reasons I went into education (besides my mother Diana Haas). Mr. Brown had a different teaching style than most and yet he was very effective.
